These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of TopTenAtlas and its related pages, features, and tools (collectively, the "Service"). They exist so you know what we provide, what we do not promise, and how we expect the Service to be used. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Eligibility and acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that could disable, overburden, damage, or impair our systems or interfere with other users' access.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, accounts, networks, or data—including probing, scanning, or testing vulnerabilities without our prior written consent.
  • Use automated means (such as bots, scrapers, or harvesters) to access or collect content at scale, mirror the Service, or circumvent rate limits or technical controls, except where we explicitly allow it (for example standard search-engine crawling consistent with our robots configuration).
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or unlawful content.

We may suspend or terminate access—temporarily or permanently—if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or others.

Description of the Service

TopTenAtlas provides curated, editorial-style guides and tools to help you explore cities, categories, and listings. Features may include search, navigation, comparisons, collections, quizzes, budgeting views, and locally stored preferences (such as saved listings in your browser). The Service may change, and we may add or remove features where reasonable. We run the site responsibly, but we are not a travel agency, booking platform, or emergency service.

Content, rankings, and accuracy

Informational use only. Listings, rankings, descriptions, maps, tags, blog posts, and all other content on the Service are provided for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for your own judgment, official sources, or professional advice.

How content is produced. Our guides and pages may include AI-assisted research and writing, alongside structured data and human editing. We aim for accuracy and clarity, but automated or assisted drafts can still contain errors, omissions, or outdated phrasing until we correct them.

No guarantee. Travel and local information change often—hours, prices, menus, routes, visa rules, safety conditions, closures, and weather can differ from what you read here, sometimes without warning. We do not guarantee that any listing, ranking, or description is current, complete, or suitable for your situation.

Your responsibility. Before you book, travel, spend money, or rely on anything important, verify the details yourself with the venue, carrier, government source, map provider, or other authoritative channel. If something on the Service looks wrong, please tell us via the Contact page so we can investigate.

Nothing on the Service constitutes professional advice (including legal, medical, financial, or investment advice). Reliance on any content is solely at your own risk.

Intellectual property

The Service—including its design, text, graphics, logos, selection and arrangement of content, and underlying software—is owned by TopTenAtlas or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from our content or technology except as allowed by law or with our prior written permission. Trademarks and brand names appearing on the Service belong to their respective owners.

Third-party links and services

The Service may link to third-party websites, maps, reservation platforms, or social services. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and policies.

Disclaimer of warranties

In plain terms: we work to keep TopTenAtlas useful and honest, but we cannot promise that every fact on the site is up to date or that the Service will always be available or error-free—especially for time-sensitive travel details. The legal wording below says the same thing in more formal language.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers; in those jurisdictions, our warranties are limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TopTenAtlas AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100), IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US ANYTHING.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TopTenAtlas and its operators, affiliates, and personnel from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of third-party rights.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict-of-law principles that would require applying another jurisdiction's laws. You agree that courts in the jurisdiction where we designate—or another forum required by mandatory law—have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service, except where consumer protection law grants you non-waivable rights.

Note: If you operate TopTenAtlas under a specific legal entity or country, you should have counsel confirm governing law, venue, and any mandatory arbitration or consumer provisions for your situation.

General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
